Hello! My name is Gabriela Albino and I am a first year Flores MBA student at LSU. I was born in Ceara, Brasil, and moved to Denham Springs, Louisiana at the age of seven. It was very difficult for me to adjust in the beginning due to the fact that I knew zero English and that the city of Denham Springs was completely opposite to the huge metropolitan city I came from. The first day of elementary school I got on the wrong bus and went to the wrong school, I was traumatized!! As school progressed, things became a lot better. I made many friends quickly and I feel fortunate to still have those same people in my life today. I attended Denham Springs High School and graduated in May of 2004. Growing up in Louisiana I always knew that I wanted to attend LSU, so I applied and began my undergraduate career that fall. Most of my family members are doctors so naturally I began as a pre-med major, but about two years into the program I decided that business was a better fit for me. I graduated LSU with a BS in Business Management in the spring of 2009. About a month prior to graduation I thought my options through; the economy was horrible so the next logical step would be to continue my education. Last fall, I entered the Flores MBA Program to specialize in International Marketing and Finance. I recently landed an internship this summer back home in Brasil which I am very excited about. After graduation, I would love to be able to move back home and become CFO of a firm or maybe even start my own business. In the mean time, I enjoy being a Graduate Assistant working under Dr. Edward Watson. I have great people around me and so far the program has been a wonderful experience for me. One thing is for sure, out of all the states we could have moved to, I am very happy that it was Louisiana…the food and the culture are amazing!!
